Cyder looked up from his painting, one he had been working on since that morning. He had come across that little meadow a few days ago, after going out hunting with Cyrus. Since then he had intended on returning to paint the landscape. If it came out well, maybe he'd actually hang it up in the gallery. But it had been... rather tedious. Tobi had gone to visit his father over some issue concerning their kingdom, which meant he was left to watch over Bonnie on his own. Normally that wouldn't be a problem for him; their daughter hardly ever made a fuss and would usually entertain herself when her fathers were busy. But today, she seemed to be so full of energy (he wondered if his father had snuck her some extra cookies during lunch...) and couldn't seem to sit still. Which was why he was not surprised to see that she had ended up wadding about the shallow pond after all (after he had told her she could put her feet in only). And in her hand she held up her latest prize. "Dahdy!! Fwoggy, Dahdy! Fwoggy!" she exclaimed with a little giggle as she beamed with pride.
"Oh pumpkin..." he sighed, setting down his paints and walking over to her. "Baby, yeh need t' pu' down tha' froggy. I's... i's icky."
"Icky?" she questioned, looking down at the frog in her hand and sticking out her tongue as she seemed to mull it over. Glob, just like Tobi. No doubt that she was his daughter. Now she lifted her head, nodding as if she had made up her mind about something. "Icky fwoggy! Yes! Icky!"
Oh pomp, he knew what that meant. That was her way of saying that yes, it's icky, but she liked it and it was hers now.
"Bon Bon, no. Icky is nasty. Yeh don' wan' ah icky froggy." he made a face to emphasize that it was gross as he made to take it from her. But she wouldn't have it. Seeing that she was going to lose her latest little friend, she held it away from him, putting on her little pouty, angry face. "No-No. My Icky. Bad Pappy (that was her way of saying Papple). I tell Squishy (and by squishy she meant daddy Tobi)"
"Oh glob, Bonnie, don' do this today. Please. Give meh th' froggy."
"No-No." she turned her back to him, her little tail wiggling. "Mine." and that seemed to be final, waddling towards the opposite end of the pond.
"Bonnie, yeh come back here." he strained to reach for her, trying to hook his fingers on one of her overall straps to tug her back, but he missed and the end of the pond was a little slippery... too slippery.
With a loud splash, he fell head first into the water, pushing himself up sputtering and hacking out the water that had went up his nose. Which, of course, got his daughters attention, and got her laughing. She wadded back to him, then releasing the frog, who quickly swam away to safety.
"Dahdy icky." she said, reaching up and patted his cheeks.
"Yes, baby. Daddy icky..." he sighed.
"Icky Dahdy. Yes. Icky." she giggled, squishing his cheeks now. And he knew what that meant.... which had him smiling and shaking his head.
"Come here, yeh lil--'" he laughed, scooping her up quickly and kissing her chubby little cheeks, to which she began to laugh in that cute way she had. And he spent the rest of that day in the water, searching for more froggies along with his daughter until it was time to go home. He could always finish that painting some other day...~
